iPad in dash of x5 e53
Hi there I'm new to this forum thing , just wondering if anyone thought this was a good idea ? I've been integrating iPads into the dash of my x5 for the last few months now , I just find having an iPad mini air or full size in your dash is so much better than the normal radio and so much better than the factory sat nav,
If anyone is interested please feel free to contact me as I have now started to make kits for all iPads

What do you mean by "kits"
Facsia....or full integration...or somewhere in between?

I mean as much as you want from just a mounting kit for the iPad for you to fabricate into your dash or I can fabricate a complete piece then either wrap it or paint it any colour you want plus also all the electrical components that you will need for a complete plug and play into your factory stereo , it's completely up to you how many parts you want me to supply , I can also supply a modified apple airport express and create a "car network" that you or anyone in your car can connect to and stream your music or videos between the iPad and the cars audio system .
Just let me know if you are interested and what you would like then I'll Taylor make something for you and price it depending on what you would like
Thanks Dave Morter

Hi Dave,
Looks like a great project, good effort!
What is the fascia made from?
I currently have the "single DIN" business stereo with separate CD player above. How would I replace these with a "double DIN" iPad, do you have some form of cage that sits behind it?
(I realise the e53 is not a standard DIN fitment at all, just easiest description to distinguish the sizes)

Just a thought/question what happens to the central air vent feeds and roller control? Are they just dangling behind the Ipad?

Re: iPad in dash of x5 e53
Hi guys
Well basically I make a fibreglass mould of the space left when the sat nav and or cd and air vent is removed I then use the "kit" part of my iPad mount , picture below to them mould and fabricate it into one piece it then get filled and primed the same as if you were to repair damage to a cars bodywork then I decide if I'm going to paint the piece of wrap it in what ever wrap someone wants ?

Re: iPad in dash of x5 e53
The mount that I make is made up of several layers of machined MDF which are then glued together with a suede backing for the iPad to slide in and out of so the iPad doesn't get scratched or damaged and then that is then bonded and fabricated to a completely smooth finish to the fibreglass mould that I made earlier .
And as for the air vent , once you remove the air vent I then put a piece of foam into the vents that are left from behind the dash so that a small amount of hot and cold air can come out and blow into the back of the iPad so it keeps it from getting to cold in the winter and to hot in the summer .
Hope this helps and more questions please feel free to contact me
Thanks Dave
