e53 handbrake assembly

Post by Simon » Fri Jul 17, 2015 7:37 pm

hi,
Need a new handbrake assembly, rang main dealers and they are £120  :hypo: can't find any on eBay or my local breakers yard, so was wondering does one of a e60/e39 5 series fit?

thanks
Simon

What's the issue???

If its the ratchet slipping you can fix it with a file.
But its a bloody pain to get out to do it though!!!
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

Hi,
It goes up 2 clicks and then that's your lot! Failed m.o.t on it, which is annoying because I never use it anyway lol

Cheers

The teeth on the ratchet mechanism on mine were worn. In situ, I used a narrow cold chisel and hammer to cut the teeth profile out again. It's been fine for years now. .. Worth a try.
