Hi Jason, do you do anything for the X5M which would not cause problems with BMW warrenty? The car is a 2010 model (built in 2009). Cheers. Pete.

I've been tuning these since they 1st came out in singapore when I was out there tuning

It uses the same engine as my F10 M5

Here's our bwchiptune f10 m5 630bhp vs thorney x5m 620bhp at Santa pod bmw show 2014

http://youtu.be/m6DRp8iuF1c

I let my son drag race the the f10 m5 for the 1st time and he forgot to turn off the auto stop start which kicks in at the line giving the x5m a head start but he catches up at the finish line to win

Can you let me know how much and will I need to come to you?
Cheers.
Pete.

I have no doubt Jason can do a first class job on these but if you get stuck, Eurocharged UK in Watford do a great map for the x6m/x5m (around £700) and can get these close to 700bhp with headers (around £2k all inc)

There's even more power available if you believe DMS claims ;)

However , the only way to tune these and have any chance of maintaining engine/drivetrain warranty is by using a removable tuning box (like DTUK or Burger Motorsports ) ; not too sure I'd want one of these after doing a lot of research !

For my 335i I have heard only good things about the piggy back boxes and in particular BM. Not sure if its a different unit they would provide or if any different in the way it works but e90 owners have mainly positive reviews.

Yes it can be detected, but that usually just results in an overwrite should any updates be done during a service.  I believe it is down to some kind of 'checksum' number being changed every time the map is updated.  The BMW server looks at that number and if not happy promptly reloads the correct factory map as it thinks there might be a code error.

I am aware that the Burger JB4 boxes work very well on the M135,235,335 etc

We fitted a DTUK box to my mates M4 and he is very happy with the results , turns it into a proper 911turbo slayer ;)

For peace of mind though, if I fitted a tuning box to my car, I'd want to make sure the A:F ratios on boost were acceptable as I've heard stories of cars running dangerously lean with tuning boxes  >:(

Anyone tried the Steinbauer box on their petrol turbo as the numbers they quote look good? Cheers.

I have my car (X5 35d) booked with him for this Saturday. So I am sure he is still remapping X5s.
