LCI 40d SE or Sport

Post by Mark » Sat Jun 20, 2015 7:57 pm

Hi Guys

New here looking to buy an LCI 40d as soon as I find the right one. Started by looking at just the Sport model in Black as pictured below.

Image

Then I saw an SE as pictured below. Now I really like this!

Image

Budget up to £30k (but would rather spend ~£25k), mileage ~50k, must have 7 seats, dark leather, not keen on Pan roof.

Would like heated rear seats and rear AC but not essential.

Thoughts and advice welcome.

If rear AC is anything like it was in the E53, then that is something that I would not have. In the E53 it is extremely noisy, to the point I just do not ever have it switched on. Sure someone can confirm if this is the case or not in the E70.

Test drive them both as i wish i had. I like my msport but wish i had got the se version. I find the ride harsh especially on the pot holed roads in the north of scotland.

It's certainly not the case in my E71.  Mine runs all the time - rear AC that is.

Note that than an SE with Dynamic pack has the m-sport suspension.

This is true. I might look for a well spec'd SE without the dynamic pack and retro fit the arches and bigger wheels.

How easy is it to swap out the arch extensions on the SE?

My 40d SE has the arches and bigger wheels, also got the suspension deletion so the ride is firm but smooth.Image

That's nice too
But not as keen on those wheels
They remind me of the older BMW version wheels making it more dated

Go with the sport, better styling and better depreciation on resale.
