How important is it to have same brand front and back
I know not to mix it on the same axle, but how about front and back

Different brand tyres front and back
Re: Different brand tyres front and back
Hi should be fine other than 2 winter fronts , 2 summer rears or runflat & none runflat .
Re: Different brand tyres front and back
Thanks
Gone for non runflat Falkens rear and about to replace the badly worn rft fronts
So currently no issues; but do I decide to match with Falkens 453 or uniroyal rainsport 3

Re: Different brand tyres front and back
Back to the theme Celica posted. On my 3.0d the rears wear more quickly than the fronts. I have run-flat Contis all round - 250 x 50 x 19 x 107on the front and 285 x 45 x 19 x 111 on the rears. The rears run off at both the centre and inside edge leaving me with fronts that have much more life left. I've got 2 sets of part-worn front Contis (one pair on at the moment and one from the last time I renewed all 4 at once) and soon will have to change the rears again. Now for the key question - do I get another pair of summer run-flat Contis for the rear to match the fronts or begin the process of changing brand? This is the same question Celica is asking. other possibilities are run-flat Goodyears that are now fitted on the newish X5s, or run-flat Bridgestones. I can't recall any difference between Bridgestones that I had in the past and the ride on Contis, but can anyone comment on the newer Goodyear run flats? Please no comments about non-run flats as we've had lots of posts about them and I want to only change the rears whilst having run-flats on the front for a while yet.
Best wishes,
Graeme

Re: Different brand tyres front and back
The more I think about it
In an ideal world same brand and age on all four corners
But I've been running falken nrft rear and rft bridgestone I think up front with no real issue
So I'm thinking of going uniroyal upfront as they are the better tyre apparently
Also £20 cheaper in total to put towards a wheel alignment

Re: Different brand tyres front and back
One option is get a set of winter wheels as they are all 255/50/19 ! They are also et48 on the X5 but are still staggered on the X6 front are et48 rears et18 . Unfortunately they don't fit the E70 without having the rears bored out to 74.1 so don't be caught out by a cheap set of X6 wheels that say they fit the X5 as they mean the E53 which have smaller centre hubs all round !
Pm me if you need any more help ?
Regarding the Goodyear tyres they have been having good revues .

I've got the X6 wheels, had them bored for £10/wheel. Now have a nice staggered winter setup.
