Correct Tyre Pressures

Hi All
I hope that this doesn’t come across as a bit stupid but I’m a little worried about the tyre pressures for my X5 (F15 40d M Sport).  The chart on the door indicates 2.2 bar (32psi) front and rear for the tyre size I have, but that seems a bit on the low side.  On the tyre pressure info label it indicates higher pressures on different tyre sizes when carrying more people (ie wife and 2 kids).    We’re off on a long road trip and I’m just concerned to makes sure I’m on the mark with them for obvious reasons.

Any help appreciated! And sorry for being a bit thick !

I would go by what BMW state on the label on the door frame (B Post ), however, and  for what it's worth, I run my F15 3.0SE at 35 front and 38 rear and  I keep it the same when towing the caravan.

Higher loads always mean higher pressures to prevent tyre 'squat' and overheating.

I have never run my BMWs at anything other than factory and they've been fine.

If you search on line most people recommend running harder than the standard, I run mine around the 35 front & 38 rear & my last F15 at a year & 2 months old when I traded it in had 5.5mm left across each tyre after 12k miles, I would def run at the slightly harder pressures if you have the 20" wheels as the inside edge on the rears can easily be worn off very quickly, I would also say do the pressures every month as they do drop & again this can be expensive!

If they are run flat tyres remember they are designed to run with no air at all in emergency and they do not need high pressures to keep the side walls from collapsing.  I have always run mine at the pressures on the door pillars and have never had any issues with control or with uneven wear.
