Scratched black bumper plastics repair

Post by XDRIVER86 » Sun Jun 14, 2015 10:08 pm

I've been using the forum for the last 12 months so thought it was time I registered and added a few posts. Thought I'd start with something I couldn't find any info on which I'm sure a few people have encountered, scratched plastic bumper trim.

My wife caught the bumper on the gate and damaged the paint and textured bumper plastic. I thought the bumper was in 2 parts but its all one and the price of a new or undamaged second hand bumper was stupid.
I purchased some textured bumped paint and set about on trying it out today and I am chuffed with the results. I have only done a small section and still have the bottom to do and the paint to fix but you get the idea.

Great job, looks like new !

I have a couple of bumper plastic scuffs that I might DIY myself now after seeing this !

Which bumper paint did you use and which filler ?

That's not a bad fix there.
Certainly saved you a few pennies, and i am sure will help others out too.

I read somewhere that applying heat can sort some defects out, but in your case they looked a little deep!!
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....

That looks great. My wife's rear bumper has a dimple  and some scratches where a previous owner has reversed into something so I think Ill get some of this to have a go.  Thanks!  8)

WOW! That looks great. I put a scratch on my front bumper which waves at me every time I see my car so I will definitely try this....better than £500 for a new IS front.
