Face lift xenon headlight issue

Post by domparrott » Fri Jun 05, 2015 10:17 pm

Good evening all,

Got in to drive the x5 facelift this evening and when the lights came on only the drivers side is working and get a message saying check low beam. Checked and passenger side driving beam xenon out.

What should I check to see it lamps out or control module is gone etc

Many thanks

its probably the bulb itself, could swap bulbs to confirm, just because its xenon bulb doesn't make it different to anything else.  Just wait til car has powered completely down or even disconnect battery etc.

Definitely do as above.  The voltages on Xenon HID lamps are LETHAL at up to 25kV for 'ignition' pulses so defo all power off the car in case any charges are still present.  Do not touch the glass of the lamp itself either

Thanks for the replies guys. When I'm back from the weekend away I'll pull the head lights out and have a look.
