There are two mods on here and both are pretty useless

One is generally chasing Russian Hookers (PVR) and the other is a Russian Hooker (AW8)

Joking aside I know AW8 used to go on the 'land in the earlier days so he may have a suggestion

A few of us meet up once a year or so at Xmas so maybe we could do a summer one.

I joined the land in 2004/5 when I got my first bm, the 535.

Did some of the meets when Alex and Mystic were frequent members.

Olli is a top bloke too, fountain of knowledge.

Good to see so many familiar "faces" here, just a shame that it's all for such a terrible reason.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, I kinda feel it would be appropriate to make some kind of public display of appreciation for everything Matt did and built for all of our benefit. Whether that be a meet, a collection for charity, re-establishing the site - whatever it might be, but only with the support of his family if that is something they would want / appreciate. But clearly it's really not a priority at the moment.

I think the site formed a large part of our lives (for good or bad) - personally didn't realise how much I frequented it until I couldn't access it!  ::)

I agree we should do something. Problem is not all BMWLander's will find this thread, or the facbook one (I don't use it).

I was the same, until last week when I was checking every device to see what was happening with the site, I didn't realise how often I was on the site. I seem to have got a lot of work done recently.
Don't know about pistonheads, but as for as my new car,  which is due next week, Porsche forums are all about 911's as expected I suppose. Unless your in USA. So even as a non BMW owner I will miss BMWLand, other forums just don't seem to compare.

My new car's a 2012 F20 118d M Sport! Bit different from the E70 40d!  :))

But I actually love it. I really do. Mpg is a bit dissappointing at 45mpg but it's mostly stop and start urban stuff at the moment, but still 25mpg better than the X5 so no moaning there.

Sad sad news I posted on mbclub as well and some on there also send there condolences.  I never meet Matt but he was always very helpful via email.  I know the Pmw boys attended his funeral we really should do something for him.

Chaps. Not much else to add to what's been said already but desperately sad all the same.

Panamera Hybrid, not really a car I thought I would have, but my biz partner persuaded me to try one as he was going to have a dem. I loved the car, the looks have grown on me. Needless to say its White, and lots of extras. I will post pics of it when I can, but looks like I will be driving it to Paris the first day I get it, so pics will not be immediate.

The residual on mine kind of shocked me away from the M6 I was looking at.

I got £24250 p/ex, but as we know they were sold well under list (£72000 for mine - albeit I paid £45000 almost 3 years ago to the day)

Ha ha, never thought I would own an electric car either !!

Had 300 bhp diesel last week, nice car although a bit too much torque for rwd only.

Just wanted to add this link -

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... 41422&nmt=
I can confirm that Matt Hinton the administrator of BMWLand passed away on 30th April after a long traumatic illness. He leaves a wife (one of my closest friends) and 18 year old son. He is the Matt Hinton on muchloved.com and if anyone wants to donate to Lymphoma Association, it would be fitting and appreciated.

The passwords of the site were on his laptop and the family are trying to break into the laptop (they have sources to help with this) and also decide what to do with the site. As you can appreciate the site's future is on the list of many administrative items Mrs Hinton needs to address following his death and I ask for some space whilst she decides. I will send her the link to this thread, I am sure she will appreciate the thoughts for her and her family.
Really guys!?!?

We are passing on our condolonces about somebody who has sadly passed away that ran one of the best forums I knew of.

This is a similarly good forum for which I am sure he would appreciate being light hearted not the bollocks that goes on on the likes of piston heads and others that I have been and promptly walked away from.

Whilst this is generally a friendly place let's not turn it all in to a fight within 15 posts!

Yeah ok,

I continued the topic here : http://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/https://xdrivers.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=0.0

- maybe if any other BMWlanders want to discuss stuff they can use that thread instead of this one .

Sorry to hear this very sad news. Although not a member of that forum I had used it many times for info on various things. Condolences to his family.

What about a forum meet up. Other forums could attend to. There could be a collection and the money donated to his chosen charity?

+1

The 'Land was never about rigid allocation of threads or BMWs to the exclusion of everything else, which is the reason why I also liked it and spent so much time there.

I also don't want to abuse Xdrivers by spamming up the rest of their board with Landers thread on other cars and think we should be cognisant of the fact we've so far been allowed to congregate here.

I have paid my tributes to Matt both on this thread, PH, FB and made a small donation and comment on the memorial page. There's only so much that can be attributed to that message at the same time as continuing the Lander community and banter (which Matt always appeared to support), here.

But equally, happy to take guidance from an overall majority as to what is appropriate in this situation.
