There was a post about 8+ weeks ago on splitting the lenses of the reflectors, maybe worth a peep...

I had CCFL in mine for a while but forever had interference issues esp with the front pdc sensors..
Traced it to the side light circuit running with a PWM signal....
This led to premature failure of the invertors..

I am now running smd led rings in mine and are infinitely better than the ccfl.
Much brighter, less current and no interference.
Would recommend them and only a few quid more than ccfl.

Depending on the age of your lights will determine how, or if, you can split them easily..

Pre 2003 would need heating to soften the sealant, whilst post will need cutting!!!
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

Good information !

I have a 2004 facelift, and fitted some mega bright cree LED halo lights that locate as a replacement where the normal bulbes located.
When fitting them, I did get a noticeable brighter light, bit its still dim as a bitch compare to the new BMW halo's on an X6 or other new vehicles.....
So, is there a brighter option for these units or is it that I have to open my lights up too, and dump the manufacturers halo's and replace with LED's too ??

Any thoughts guys ??

Regards

Your lights are extremely difficult to open as the glue is different and doesn't soften in an oven.  A modelling saw is probably your only option.

There is nothing (as yet) on the market that will give you the same result as on newer BMWs.
