My Approved Used Car Warranty has just proved its weight!

Post by Osprey » Sun May 10, 2015 10:40 am

As some will know, we purchased a Le Mans 3.0d as an AUC last June and some will say the extra cost of purchasing from a BMW dealer may not be necessary.
With only 6 weeks or so left on the warranty, we took it in to our local dealer as the fairly common surge from the auto 'box was being felt coming to a standstill. That's just the start  :(
The dealer (who has been top notch) has repaired the gearbox, although as we haven't picked the car up yet I am not sure what has been replaced but has also, due to error codes, had to replace the glow plugs, glow plug module - manifold off job  :o :o - diesel and air filter (authorised by supplying dealer).
I'm not sure what the cost of this would be if out of warranty but the peace of mind we have had, plus a courtesy car has been great.

If you are in the market for an E53 X5, this is what they currently have on the AUC website

..... I would buy it, but we already have one

I had the glow box control module replaced on my E53 at the time, was about £650 or thereabouts alone for that item due to the manifold off job.

Warranty Direct did not cover that part of the job as they only paid for the replacement of the glow control box, and did not believe that the manifold needed to come off.  You had your money's worth there.
