Front heated seats failure

Post by nujon » Wed May 06, 2015 10:11 am

Both front heated seats have stopped working today - push either button, the three green LEDs light and then a second later, go out. The fuses are OK and all the electric seat movement functions are OK.

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks - I have had a search but can't find any solution on co-incident failure of the heater on both front seats - the common factor I suspect is a failure within the control module that incorporates the heater switches

It may have been tried, but try disconnecting the battery for a few mins and reconnecting.

May reset it for you.
If not at least its free to try it !!!!

Afaik the wiring and control for seat motors is separate from the circuit for heating. If both seats no longer heating up I would suspect control panel, a connection or cable failure. The later unlikely unless someone or something  has damaged the wiring.

Others may have other thoughts.

Thanks - you got it in one. I actually pulled all the fuses associated with the heaters and the control panel, left the car to sleep overnight, popped the fuses back in and all working :)

Similar problem here with the front seat heaters.  Rears are working fine, but when I switch on the driver or passenger side it blows the fuse immediately.

I suspect it's a loose connection in the wiring or heating elements and that will take some hunting down  :(

That could be the controller shorting out.

If it helps, in my case before the seat heater failure, I had been using a cheapo inflator powered from the front lighter socket - this packed up and blew the associated 25amp fuse. I replaced the fuse and the lighter socket was OK. The next time after that that I tried to operate the front seat heaters, they did not work - the 5amp fuse was OK but the 25amp was blown - renewed the 25 amp which did not blow again but no seat heating - three LEDS on briefly then off - rest of the story as above - pulled the seat heaters and all the panel fuses - left to sleep overnight and all OK since - worth a try?
