BMW Enhancement Programme - Wheel Acceleration

Post by bobgolden » Wed Feb 18, 2015 4:16 pm

I just had a call from my supplying dealer to book in for the Wheel Acceleration enhancement.  Anyone know what this relates to and whether I need to do it straight away or if I can leave it until the summer tyres go back on in April.

They're doing it in a couple of weeks with the wheel swap. Apparently it's not safety related so could wait.

That makes 2 of us.

The car runs fine but, as it's in for a tyre swap, they may as well do it anyway.

Well, still non the wiser as they put off the upgrade until next month as they were busy and didn't want to keep me waiting while the car was reprogrammed which could have taken 2 hours. In the event, they kept me waiting almost 3 hours to change 4 wheels  >:(

Jeez, were they making the new ones on site?  Talk about milking the labour charge going to BMW GB!

Now had the software updated and still no idea what it was MEANT to do.  One thing it did do though was remove the tyre pressures from the RDC screen so now it just shows --

Oh and the service was last time left my gloss black window trim with a nice set of leopard spots which they can't remove so they're ordering new trims.

Progress. After the 3rd RDC reset, my pressures have now reappeared. Need to check the connectivity of the SIM services next.

SIM services reconnected after about 12 hours. It refused to connect to 3G initially but using the BMW app to send a locate car and sending a message to it seemed to force the reconnection. My profile settings were also absent and since my main key had been used during the update, I had to up,load the profile from BMW Connect. Luckily, I had managed to save them once I had everything set up how I liked it at the end of last year.

In summary, the update process isn't as painless as you would hope but at least it didn't require another trip to the dealer. I thoroughly recommend that you dig out your logon information and upload any profiles to BMW Connect - it saves all the stuff you have tweaked to get the car just right for you.
