1st X5

Hello to everyone, I'm new to the forum although have studied it while deciding on which spec of X5 to buy. This forum was a massive help to me.....thanks.
So finally traded in my E60 525d m sport for a 2012 X5 30d 30d m sport in Alpine white, picked it up today and I love it!!!!
I really had my mind set on a 40d but having the choice of a 2010 black 40d with 30k miles or a white 2012 30d with 15k it really was a heart v head decision. I drove both cars and the performance of the 40d blew me away! But having a 2yr old and another on the way I went with my head and bought the better spec'd newer 30d.

The spec is as follows:-
2012 alpine white with 15k
7 seat
Professional media pack
Paddle shift
High beam assist
Follow me home lights
Shadow line trim
Comfort seats (these are amazing)
20" alloys
Front and rear cameras with top view
Combox thingy
Piano black trim

I think that covers it. Although not as quick as the 40d it really is brilliant!

I wonder just how much slower the 30d is, as I presume it has the 8 speed gearbox while the 2010 40d doesn't?

Hi,
They both have the 8speed box I believe. The 40d is noticeably faster but for everyday driving the 30d is more than enough.
I traded my 2009 525d m sport for the X5 and I think the X5 30d feels quicker considering it weighs in excess of 2t that's quite impressive.

40d has the 8 speed, 35d doesn't.  I think all LCI versions are 8-speed, but it's possible early LCI 3.0d stayed with the 6-speed until later in the year.

V nice, Interesting spec, combox thingy  whats the mpg like compared to you 5 series? A big drop or not too bad?

Combox media I believe is the correct name. The Spec I think is quite Good?

Emm I've only had it couple days so hard to be exact but I was averaging around 38mpg round
Town and we are reading average of 31mpg on x5 now and it's all been town driving.
We have a decent 160 mile trip Next weekend so will post mpg I manage when I get back

Comboxes replaced the old phone ULF system in 2010.  Media version is capable of handling video from phones etc.
