AM Signal

Post by markhals » Tue Apr 21, 2015 9:42 am

Only a minor issue, but the reception for any AM stations on my radio is pretty poor, and seems to be affected by the throttle - whenever I use the throttle the signal crackles worse. FM is fine, but I mostly listen to AM on my commute - any ideas?

Suppressor fault is the most likely.  There is one in the aerial system and I think it's in the rear somewhere.  Could also be a poor connection in the aerial system - including corrosion.  I think the aerials are all on the near side rear window or in the spoiler and possibly the heated rear window.

Thanks, is the location similar to the 3 series?

This slide on RealOEM may help.  It appears to show approx where the parts are.
