Eonon stereo upgrade

Post by ajackson » Tue Apr 14, 2015 8:06 am

Hi all

Thought I'd share this with you all, I just fitted I new eonon head unit in my e53 think it looks the part and the sound quality is very good even with standard speakers.

The job is not for the faint hearted though as I had to cut out the original frame behind the dash but once it was all out it slid in perfectly.  :camera:

Cheers

Personal choice I suppose, but for me that is a show stopper.

Not totally right until the obd functionality is properly integrated..

to be honest, i never use any of the functions other than have the time showing on the dash, so i could prob live without the trip counters,  fuel consumption etc for the sake of replacing the standard radio setup with this.  :)

Ye I'm the same it looks good sounds good the gps works, handsfree works, steering control works im going to add a reverse camera soon hopefully.

It does say once the can bus has been connected you can view fuel consumption etc. but I haven't got round to looking at this yet.

Looks good and at £285 a bargain compared with the Dynavin, @ £600 which I had in my E53.
I've got a Witson S100 in the Golf and the sound is brilliant, plus in the VAGs it's a 5 min job as it comes with the same fixing lugs as OEM, even the radio reception is very good which is usually wanting in the Chinese double din units, also the IGo satnav is equally as good as Tom tom, and free updates available too.
I put my original MID unit in the gloveboxon the E53 so I could reset the MPG and clock etc, just extended the wires on the small plug that goes into the mid, so kept the binacle computer function. Not an option on the original nav ones though.

Any reason why this won't fall by the wayside in terms of support/bugfixes like others before it  such as Andrive/Hualigan/Dynavin ?

What does this have over a Pioneer with carplay which will have continual support ?
