n62 4.4i misfire

Post by subsea » Wed Apr 08, 2015 3:03 pm

Hi everyone,

long standing problem but dearly looking for help and advice wherever possible.!!!

Bought a 2004 N62 44i X5  nice looking car but with a major engine problem as in burning oil... and a misfire on cylinders 1 and 2.  bought a recon engine (thats another story) and had that fitted. cylinder 1 and 2 are still misfiring ?
changed plugs and moved coils around to see if the misfire would migrate but nope, it stays with 1 and 2..
i even changed the injectors around to see if it was that and no, the misfire is still with cylinder 1 and 2

HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP !!!!!
Regards

Kevin

I've got the same problem which I'm hoping is the valve cover gaskget, but as you've changed the engine I cant be of much help!

Would you mind me asking roughly how much you found a recon engine for incase I get further problems?

Oh thanks, not outragous I suppose for an engine of its size. My friend has just paid 3200 for a 2L diesel 3 series reconditioned engine.

If I replace that I doubt there are any origional parts left! Good luck finding your problem.

Have you checked the valvetronic ? the variable camshaft are noted amongst high milers for failure. ?
check for any air intakes, burst or cracked pipes as that will also cause the misfire.. is yours multiple ?
