What do I need to look out for on this model, I've owned a few E53 4.6's.
Is it the normal things, or are there specific things that require attention on the E70.

Hi gearbox seems a bit more trouble some , excessive tyre wear signs of suspension damage or wearing out , I usually check that all of the tyres match as this will tell you if the car has been looked after , some people mix and match run flat and normal tyres which again is a problem in the making .
  Full service history is more important than higher than average mileage , 8 speed box came out in April 2010 with a bit more fuel economy and slightly more torque . I think the road tax on some earlier cars were £480 a year instead of £270 so worth checking aswell . I am not sure how they were speced Se version to Msport but the later will have wider arches for 20" wheels , sports seats and body coloured bumpers and are worth sourcing due to higher resale value in the future however some Se had a lot of extras added so it depends what you want .
  You can check car values on various sites although they don't do add ons , most dealer cars come with a 12 month warranty plus you can add on to that , a gearbox could cost you £4k plus fitting , 10k for an engine , £1200 for tyres , servicing isn't too bad now as they do a cheaper service at the dealers .

Wasn't the 4.8 discontinued with the Facelifted version (aka LCI after March 2010) as the 50i is a 4.4 twin-scroll bi-turbo?  No 8-speed box fitted except to the LCI.

i think so, also i think all 4.8i/50i will be in the £500 tax bracket, before i got the ml i was thinking a 4.8i, also an msport 4.8i e70 will be same or more than a diesel of same spec as there actually pretty rare, especially the 50i

one pretty reasonable overlooked petrol is the 30si

One that caught my eye was the lpg 4.8 on evil bay at the moment.
Excuse me for not doing the link, but I'm on the iPad and haven't worked out how to, DOH!
