Fuel Filter X5 F15 3.0 diesel

I usually carry a spare fuel filter in the vehicle just in case I should get some dirty diesel.  I have had a quick look round the car for its location, but it is not obvious. Can anyone please tell me where the filter is located, and does the system automatically bleed itself as  I have found nothing in the vehicle handbook??

Most likely underneath and hidden behind the underbody covers.  Only a guess based on the earlier E53 where it was on the nearside behind a plastic panel under the car.

Thanks, I have seen the earlier one on You tube, and my last X5 was under the bonnet.

I've never had it in thirty years of driving oil burners, but it does very rarely happen when bad deliveries occur.

In recent years I have had partially blocked fuel  filters on 4 occasions, and I know of others who also had it, I therefore like to carry a spare filter "just in case"

That's not good. 

Sounds like a lot of dodgy diesel down your way......any of it kinda pinkish or smelling of chips? )
