Its a programmable option.
(Well I think I saw it in there..)

Mainly put in for the american market as they apparently like to crash into everything..

There is similar for manual and clutch pedal.
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....

A bit like the mirror warnings and that 'cruise control' is not an autopilot!!

E53 will start in park or neutral, later models, not so sure

2005 e53 4.8is - will start in Neutral and Park with no need for foot brake engagement when starting.
