Hi guys......had my battery tested today as I only do short runs and it's been cold in the mornings.
I've had messages on the idrive saying "transmission failure cannot select P" or words to that effect.
I only seem to get that message 1st thing in the mornings.....the message then goes after a few seconds and the car drives perfectly, and has done since I've had it.
I read elsewhere that others have had similar issues and many said that if the battery charge is low, then the idrive often pings up this warning( transmission). Or other weird things.
Also had the car on a machine and there was no stored fault codes anywhere.
He also checked the battery which said....battery condition 100%......but the charge was only reading 40%.
So I'm assuming the battery needs a overnight charge and I will see if I still get this warning.
So can someone point me to a battery charger that will do the job for the 2009 3.0d X5.
I ain't got a clue about amps charge rate etc, and don't want a super duper top of the range thing....just one that will charge overnight.....I was looking to spend £20-£40 ish.
Any suggestions guys?
Cheers

Which battery charger?
Re: Which battery charger?
Several threads running on here about this. For that money you need to go to Lidl.
