rocker oil gasket failure

the other month before the cold snap , I changed my spark plugs, the passenger side of the engine all plugs were dry, all though all the ones on the drivers side were all wet, the rocker gasket has failed and the oil was up to the rubber on the coil packs. so it was quite high up , and looks like its been leaking for a long time .
question really is i'm getting a slight misfire when my foot is just resting on the throttle., as the oil slowly leaks back into the spark plug holes, will that cause it to misfire, or is the oil leak , just and inconvenience?

Not a mechanic here but I would suggest that oil around plugs and coil packs not desirable and could cause misfire or damage to a coil pack. I would advise you to check condition of pcv hoses too as soft, collapsed or split hoses can apparently cause pressure indifference and consequential acceleration of rocker gasket failure, (source of opinion is a BMW technician).

There can be a multitude of other issues ( I am assuming its is running on correct spec plug replacements) , that cause misfire or rough running. I would keep an open mind, however, it makes sense to rule out any obvious suspect issues first. An electronic diagnostic scan might point you in other directions.

cheers for the reply , yeah plugs are correct  I had the pcv valve and all piping changed soon after I got the car, I posted the pics on here at the time , I also asked mechanic to check hoses while it was all in bits.
the car starts no probs,  runs no problems,  there just as I said seems to be a slight misfire or hesitation when your  cruising with foot rested on accelerator,  the rocker gaskets are going to be changed when weather improves,

oh averaging 16mpg as well,  that's dropped from 19
