333m Wheel colour
333m Wheel colour
Hi
I had my badly corroded 333m wheels refurbed by the dealer a few weeks ago. They would only paint them and not diamond cut so they have done the whole wheel in grey (ferric grey I think its called), anyway cut a long story short im paying to have them diamond cut as just don't like the look of them all painted. Trouble is I want the grey darker than ferric grey. Ive looked at a few m50d and the colour of those all look darker
does anyone know of the name of paint code of that colour
Thanks

Ferric Grey is the correct colour. Maybe they mixed it incorrectly as it's quite dark. Other than that it's black. Not (yet) seen any other standard colours from BMW.

Wolins;
Have you got a photo of the car with the grey wheels on? Im considering what to do with mine as well. I like the look of diamond cut, but asumed it would look ok just being powdercoated grey! Now you've put this up im worried!

Re: 333m Wheel colour
They wouldn't diamond cut them as he would have an invoice to pay, where as they have a bodyshop and is paying his paint guys regardless!, Got them back with a £500 detailing invoice to correct there total mess up's of machine polishing though!
They have done a good job, I just don't think they look as good as the proper finish

Re: 333m Wheel colour
They look ok too me.
Im contemplating getting mine done soon.
And was thinking of the same idea but in plain alloy colour.
My car is "space grey" so itd look better with brighter wheels..
I like the look of the diamond cut , but its the corrosion issues that bother me, in 12-18 months theyl be just as bad again....

I think that looks absolutely fine and give a week or so to bed in to your mindset.
The paintwork looks great too.
If you get them diamond cut, could the corrosion issues return...?

Re: 333m Wheel colour
I don't keep my cars longer than 12 months anyway so if corrosion was to return it would not be in my ownership.
I suppose it does look ok, just not as nice as diamond cut
Paintwork wise, yes I had it properly detailed after the dealer totally messed up twice! I got the car covered in swirls and a couple flat patches, they redid it and made it worse and came out with a huge dull patch on drivers door but they claimed they didn't touch it.....even though white polish splats all over car, and polish in door handles etc...

Re: 333m Wheel colour
I had my wheels painted the same colour as yours after a refurbed set started to re-corrode after 6 months and the supplying BMW dealer weren't interested.
Agree the standard finish is nice - but i don't mind the grey and makes it look a little different to the thousands of other X5s out there at least.
Cheers

Re: 333m Wheel colour
Paint work looks great mate can't beat a nicely detailed car, being an avid hobby detailed myself I always machine polish my cars and layer it up with the zaino range. Can't wait till the weather warms up abit so I can do the same on my x5, I agree a lighter finish would look better on the wheels either diamond cut or painted the lot in a light glossy silver.
Re: 333m Wheel colour
Here is a pic of a x6 m50d with 333m wheels, definitally a darker grey that whats on my x5

Re: 333m Wheel colour
Wolins; Thats a lovely and clean X5. Sometimes mine is approaching that level of cleanliness, but then i go and drive it again and it gets filthy lol. Good effort, wish i had the time to get it that nice.
I like the wheels as well. I think they look about as good as they are going to get without all the hassle of the corrosive diamond cut. Having seen yours, I think this is the way to go with mine.
