Economy Guage

Post by Philb » Mon Dec 20, 2010 8:35 am

Is it just me who finds the economy gauge pointless and annoying. I wish I could swap it for a temp gauge or volt meter or something more useful.

Mine used to annoy the hell out of me, pretty much any amount of throttle and it would be on zero mpg lol. Same on every BMW I have owned, just can't see the point of them.

I totally agree. Give us our temp guages back!! A warning light is all very well, but by the time it comes on the dsmage is done!!

Mine is in l/100km ... and if I even dare to look at the right pedal, the needle smashes straight into the rightmost area :)
So .. +1 for a temp gauge !

On the 4.8 it has a oil temp guage instead of economy guage but still pretty pointless.

The mrs has an economy guage on her 330d & i cant understand why there is not a temp guage at all, must mean you can thrash diesels from cold then!

I like the little swingometer but it does bare no relevance to the mpg.......it is a little distracting too.......whilst your feathering the throttle trying to get it about 30mpg you are generally not watching the traffic in front of you. Maybe it should be a boost pressure guage for the turbo diesel boys. Make more sense to be an oil temp though.

I thought this thread was something to do with the recession and the number of new X's being sold :D

Completely useless in my opinion. It's the first time I've had one since moving from a 330Ci to an M3 in 2002. I'd much prefer an oil temperature gauge.

Hi new to this forum and was just browsing and found this post, i agree with all that the swingometor is totally useless would be better to have a temp gauge, talking of which where do you find the temp readings?? i know it will be on the idrive somewhere but where, if anyone out there knows please let me in on bmw's secret.
