Sytner BMW - Advice on price asked for these 2 X5s

Post by hmpmarketing » Wed Jan 14, 2015 3:23 pm

Hi guys,

Still going about a search for my X5. Spoke with a rep from Sytner today (very friendly) and mentioned I was looking for a X5, 2012. He sent me the specs for these 2, one is a 2011 40d and another 2012 30d.

I have attached the vehicle details he sent me, need advice on asking price. both are on for 35,850

2011 http://www.hmp-media.com/X5_2011.pdf
2012 http://www.hmp-media.com/X5_2012.pdf

What do you guys think?

40d is the better drive and that one gas Comfort Seats too which are definitely worth having.  Both are good cars though.

No Nav listed.....not sure if it's included in the 'Media Package' or not.

Some on here don't find the M Sport suspension a pleasant ride so you need to drive both versions and then decide if you can live with the 'crashy' ride.

Hi Richard,

Looking between the two I would agree the 40d is a better drive as well as feature wise, specially comfort seats. My only complaint, it is a 2011, was really looking for 2012 model but perhaps I can live with that.

With that said, the asking price of 35K is it reasonable? Should I aim for a 10-15% off this?

Yours and everyone's feedback is really appreciated

Kind Regards

Herick

As it's a BMW Dealer it's always worth trying to talk them down as they will have put £2-4k on the price.

The differences in the model year will be minor and are mostly to do with the entertainment system which was updated in April 2011.  Only minor changes in the functions so worth getting the 'build sheet' for both.  Dealer will be able to do this in a couple of minutes.  Then you can see exactly what is on each car.

thanks again Richard, great to have you around man!

If it was you, would you go with a BMW dealer (like Sytner) or a non bmw dealer? I have my eyes on another BMW, same price, less mileage and more specs (like HUD) and it is a 2012 model. Wondering if there is any advantage on buying from a bmw dealer (AUC warranty for 12 months) vs warranty from a non bmw dealer

I have emailed the rep just now asking for the build sheet to compare.

Main Dealer every time.  Too many non-franchise dealers are way to happy to sell anything on, even with major problems and then you find the warranty is worthless.

That's not to say some BMW Dealerships don't let the side down, but the AUC Warranty is generally worth having and you can play hardball if there are issues.

Dealer in question is Sytner. Have heard good things about them, so hopefully I will be lucky.

Spoke with seller and the 2011 model I may be interested on is all the way up in Sheffield (I live south). Agreed to find a similar 40d to test drive next week to get a feel for the car. If I like, upon negotiation would  be bringing the car down to Sunningdale and if everything is fine, seal the deal.

Is this standard procedure?

HUD display is great, Professional Audio system is good too.  Bought mine through Sytner in cardiff and have no complaints about them.  Did go and pick it up though.

Was originally dealing with a BMW dealer in croydon and they said that if i found one i was interested in elsewhere they would get hold of it for me.  Was never sure i would get the best deal that way though.

Hmm interesting, perhaps they would jack up the price that way :)

Hard to find one with HUD to be honest

Hi 535dboy, thanks for your feedback :)

yea, but feature wise it seems to lack loads of things, not sure if it would be worth because of the better engine?

Edit: my bad, actually the 40d seems to have more features apart from the year. Im waiting for the build sheet to compare :)

Wouldn't let the year put you off for the sake of the better car.

I reckon that could be snapped up quick that one!

Pretty good if that's the 40d?  It has got the full nav.

Can't see 6NF or 6NR?  You have 6FL which will give you a USB socket in the centre console.  You won't get music artwork unless you use that cable but you should be able to stream music via Bluetooth.  It may be that became a normal build component but it's worth asking about both of those codes.
