Lost speed cameras from my sat nav - any ideas??

Post by UrbanFlow » Mon Jan 12, 2015 1:26 pm

Hi all,
Got in my late 2007 X5 at the weekend and noticed that the speed cameras suddenly don't show up on my sat nav anymore.
I checked all the drop down menus and can't find anywhere to turn them on/off.
Why would they suddenly disappear?

My sat nav was upgraded in late 2012 and has the 2012 map disc.

Any help much appreciated.

Is it under points of interest?  Never used the option on mine and didn't know it was there.  I use a Garmin system which is much cheaper to update and gets changed every two weeks.

2007?  Sounds like a Mk4 or updated drive that still needs a disc in it.  Are you using a genuine nav disc?  Non-OEM discs do not AFAIK support this function and cannot be discussed on here.

If it is a genuine disc then it would be under the Points of Interest filter.

I have a November 2012 E70 30d M Sport with professional satnav on hard drive.  I have no speed cameras on my satnav.  I have checked and they are not available in the POI options.  Am I missing something?

As yours is like mine it has a hard drive based OEM database and those don't have cameras in the database.

Great!  My wife's ancient and basic Tom Tom has more functionality that BMW's top of the range offer.  >:(

Mine is the DVD drive version. I ejected the disc yesterday and it is a genuine BMW 2012 disc as far as I can tell.

Will check under 'Points of interest' - thanks.

When I upgraded the Sat Nav disk I had to do the following to get the cameras to appear:

Select Navigation from the iDrive menu.
Select any location in the List of Destinations
Click the iDrive to display Info on Destination.
Locate the UK or EU Speed cameras entries in the Travel folder

Click Start search if required by using an appropriate Max Distance setting. Don’t add any Name. A
list of all the speed cameras will be displayed and speed camera icons will appear on the map.

I only did this once and now all the cameras are visible.
