Replacing SE bumpers???

Post by dmp 5 » Tue Jan 13, 2015 8:49 am

Hi all

Quick question, can the SE bumpers on a 07 X5 V8 be replaced with colour coded sport ones.  If so will it be a straight swap??

Thanks

I dont think its a straight swap as the rear quarter panels need to be changed too.

check out realoem that should be able to tell you.

I think this has been discussed before.  You would need bumpers. And the corner trin plast pieces.  But it will be do able sports dont/ wont have a different body shell

Shadrack you got me thinking, So searched the net and found these pics, which in my opinion do look quiet nice and I am swaying towards this look...

Now I think I'm right in saying that the aero kit only fits on SE bumpers and not m sport ones, please correct me if I'm wrong, so i spoke to the chap who will be doing the painting and he advises against painting the SE bumpers because the paint will not adhere correctly to them and the paint may easily flake off? So I'm just wondering if anyone has painted their SE bumpers, if so how are they holding up? Or the other option may be to get them wrapped?.

Any help/suggestion will be appreciated.

i would suggest another painter, i had all the trim on my e53 (same black rough plastic) all finished smooth no issues, raj on here as many others have colour coded theirs with no issues at all, yes i meant as in your pic they look very nice with aero kit and all painted as good as a sport

Mate thanks for your replies. It's Hard to find a painter who you can trust. So If anyone can recommend someone close to Wolverhampton/West Midlands that they have used I'll appreciate it.
