Spacers recommendation - X5 E70 on BMW R21 wheels?

Post by KSX5 » Wed Feb 12, 2014 9:00 pm

Hello,

I'm looking to improve the looks of my X5 E70 4.8i by installing spacers front and rear. I am looking for aggressive look but not too overdone... At the end of the day it is a personal preference, but I would like to know what you've done on yours (a picture would be much appreciated). Especially if you're on similar wheels as mine.

My wheels are: BMW Style 128 R21
Fronts: 10x21 et40
Rears: 11.x21 et42

And is it true that spacers 25mm and more should be first mounted on the hub and the wheel on spacer? Sizes below 25mm goes directly just with larger bolts, correct?

Thanks

Anything 12mm and over should be hubcentric, ie it has a replicated wheel hub in the center of the spacer..  anything under is just a plain flat spacer (like a big washer).

25mm is quite aggressive, did you do this in the end?

My personal preference is to always try and get bolt-thru type, with longer wheel bolts. I have seen many pictures of failed spacers where heavy SUVs have have shredded the wheel bolts out of the bolt-to-hub spacers!
