can anyone please tell me how I can Change the language setting on my 2004 X5 3.0D. I have a stop message which i can not understand,the message is in French.

Sounds like you may have a non factory navigation disc - if nav is fitted - and that will change the language if the speed camera function is turned off. It's a 'feature' of the non original discs. Otherwise it is under the 'Set' option.

After weeks of trying to work this out I have turned the speed camera setting back on and that has done the trick.Thanks again

This worked for me as well! (2004 X5 3.0i)
After I also spent many frustrating hours researching other solutions.
The correction is immediate.
Brilliant. Now I do not have to find my old school French/English dictionary!
