Post by horsesuitedfool » Tue Nov 18, 2014 5:42 pm

As title says...my 2011 plate X5 40d has full memory functions yet intermittently the steering column doesn't move....the dealer says can't find fault with it....anyone else had this issue??? My dads X6 had same issue and was brand new but never found what issue was as he got the arse with it and got rid of it!! It must be fairly common in hoping... :-[

It happens occasionally on my X6 too.  No idea why, and no fault found.

I am not sure whether the steering wheel is connected to the seat memory.  My wheel moves to the last position when I insert the key in the ignition and changes if my wife's key is used.  Will check next time in hte car and report back.

steering wheel is connected to seat memory and should move when u press a button.

if u have multiple keys and if key memory is configured when u unlock with a key the steering wheel (along with seat, stereo, climate control, mirrors, etc) will move to the last known position for the key.
