Never ceases to amaze me how a thread can go from 'wheel storage' to blatent promiscuity within 1 page...

I saw that one but was unsure if it meant the overall diameter or just the bub. If it's the overall diameter then tht would be n option. I've got a set of Style 258 staggered 19" arriving tomorrow. Need to get the original rubber off and replace with Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow. They are off a brand new E71 which the owner wanted ACS whells fitted upon delivery and left the OEM ones with the dealer. Dealer offered, so I bought. Not sure what to do with the unused OEM tyres, but maybe my tyre man will offset against the Pirellis.

Need to check the overall weight of the Style 214s in case they're over 50kgs each - to stay under the 200kgs limit of the Wheelpod.

How much are the Pirellis setting you back, if you don't mind me asking?

The quote yesterday was

£158.95 + VAT for fronts (255/50 R19 107V ROF) fitted and balanced.
£217-80 + VAT for rears (285/45 R19 111V ROF) fitted and balanced.

About £886 all in. This size is getting rare apparently, especially for Run Flats. Non-Run Flats are avail, but then I have no spare wheel which doesn't help, although I could fill them with the purple gloop I used to have in the bike tyres - I miss my VFR  . Not sure if I'll still be able to get them at that price on Wednesday, but worth a try. Have seen them on mytyres and they are a LOT more expensive on there. Kwik-Fit (I only asked :) ) can't get them, nor can National Tyres. SWMBO is at Costco tnight and is asking them for a price too. The supplier may take the unused tyres off the 19" wheels and offset against the Pirellis but that bit of horse trading has still to take place.

OK so now I have the winter tyres fitted and the summer set taking up a lot of space - it's not until I took them off that I realised just how big the 20" set really are.

What I'm now looking for is bags to put each one in so that when I take them over to the BMW Tyre Hotel (it's free) they are properly protected. Unforunately those on ebay are either too small or I'm not convinced about the quality even after discussing with the sellers.

I have found several sets in the USA but the shipping costs are unbelievable as the options offered are mainly next day or express at about £100 a time! I don't need them that fast so surface mail is fine. VW/Audi make a set for all of their vehicles except the 'Q' series so their sizes are also too small.

Has anyone found something suitable in the UK? I have spent several hours searching the interwebs and came to the conclusion that until now there is no demand hence nothing available - at least on line anyway.

I can get some from China, but I need a minimum order of 500 sets........er no!

Finally found a set on Ebay. Made in Poland and pretty good, but their handles are limited to 25kgs and my Style214 wheels weigh that and some each!

Anyway, bagged wheels now stored by BMW locally free of charge. I expected paperwork and pictures to be taken in case of damage etc, but they just rolled them away... :?

Good thing I did a load myself for security in case they do get damaged then. :D

That is interesting. I honestly thought they would have used this as an opportunity to charge a premium...

The FOC bit requires that the wheels and tyres were bought through a BMW dealership, or at least that's what BMW told me. I also think that given the low numbers of sets bought (approx 1400 in be UK) means storage space is not really an issue this year.

Ahh right. Will enquire about their charges then.
