It was clearly designed by a lazy engineering student on a summer internship.

Body: copy+paste from BMW X6
Lights: copy+paste from the S-class coupe
Interior: copy+paste from the ML (OK, fine, BMW did a similar thing here with the X5 and X6, but it made sense).

I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would order a GLE-Coupe over an X6. I really do want to know why.

I must admit, Mercedes havnt had a good track record for reliability over recent years, and I have sadly refrained from buying one for that reason. And believe me I've always fancied a 2004/2005 ish SL 500 as I think they are a stunning looking car. BUT reading the reliability reviews has put me off.
Saying that their recent offering of models are nicer on the eye than most Beemers , ( Disclaimer : IMHO )

PS apart from that X6 lookalike!!!!

Mercedes relied too heavily on their name selling their cars, but became very reliable, so are now playing catch up...
What better way for them to copy something from another brand that worked, less work for their design team

I prefer the X6. The Merc looks a bit.... soft? at the back. The front is reasonable, but still prefer BMW's headlamps.

I actually really like the front, but the rear is minging. So obvious they were trying to emulate the X6; will be interesting to see the initial sales figures.
