Passenger seat airbag mat help.

Post by MTdefender » Mon Dec 15, 2014 1:33 pm

Hi
I have a 2002 x5 which is due for its MOT next week. My airbag lights keeps coming on intermittently, it seems to be the passenger seat mat causing it as before it would only come on when there was somebody in that seat, now its just intermittent regardless.

Is it worth trying to replace the seat mat or by one of these plug in bypass units? Do the plug in bypass actually work as in will it still set the airbags off in the event of a collision or does just turn the light off the dashboard?  I'm assuming at the moment when the airbag light is ON then no airbags will deploy and when the light is off then they all should minus the passenger airbag.

I would be grateful of any help or advice :)

go on ebay and type e53 seat occupancy bypass sensor!!

£10 topps instant fix!

Look under your seat and disconnect to see whether your wire is 2 or 3 wire.

But will that still allow the airbags to go off in a collision or will it just stop the airbag light being on?  :-\

the car will just think someone is sat in seat regardless of if anyone is sat in seat or not.
