2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
:-[hi all.
When i bought my x5 the parking sensors were not working. So i had it put on the computer and code 18, voltage, converters in general.
So was told it was the PDC control module. After changing it for a working one i still get the original symptoms which are a loud constant tone and parking sensor button indicator flashing.
i'm located in west yorkshire.
Any ideas what it can be? Thanks in advance

Re: 2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
before you changed the module did you make sure all the sensors on the car were "clicking"?.
I say this as im having a nightmare with my pdc's at the mo,
mine are all clicking as normal but I still get the beep and the flashing pdc switch...

No clicking. Just constant beep and light on pdc switch flashing. The sensors are not even being engaged it seems.
Re: 2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
Check the connector in the rear of the vehicle under the boot floor, mines had a towbar fitted and someone didn't connect it back up and same as a friend of mines had same issue, the plug is under the floor to the r/hand side.
Re: 2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
is that near the battery area? I suppose i can follow the connectors from the module which should lead me to this connector.
Re: 2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
You dont have to remove the spare wheel just lift the boot floor and not far from the light cluster on the r/hand side, just about where the bumper bolts on.
Re: 2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
so , if you put it in reverse , the sensors dont click?

no clicking when in reverse. I have not had a chance to get as just on holiday. Soon as i'm back i will have a look at it all.
Re: 2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
That's the connecter for the towbar electrics if it's in the boot under the spare and the air suspension compressor. There is a dedicated towbar electrics mobile you can purchase which integrates the towing electrics with the cars electrics so no wire cutting and splicing needed.

Re: 2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
no thats not it,the one you are after is in the corner under the light cluster.
Re: 2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
Just checked the plug and it seems fine. The wires all look ok too. Anything else I can try?
Re: 2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
Sounds to me like you have at least one faulty sensor
Re: 2004 bmw x5 e53 parking sensor issues
Get yourself an cable and a copy of inpa. Then you will be able to see exactly what's going on with graphical representation of the sensor outputs. Diagnosed mine in two minutes.
