Hub Spacers 30mm on rear wheels - E53 2004 ?
Post by X5-D-Sport » Mon Dec 08, 2014 3:10 pm
Wheel hub spacers 30mm - to fit or not to fit ?
Any one had experience using these ?
I've used them over the years with my Landrover Discoveries without problems, other than a 6 monthly reset of bearings...
As the X5 rear tyres are 285 width... by putting a 30mm hub spacer, has any one noticed any major tyre wear increase or problems with geometry / handling ?
Obviously it moves the wheel/tyre centre outwards, but how fenikety is the X5 suspension on the rear ?
Penny for your thoughts ???

Hi I had 25mm spacers on the back to be able to fit E70 wheels , car ran better with the wider stance no tram lining or uneven tyre wear , the killer was the insurance as they classed it as a mod they wouldnt insure me , had to take them off .
Eventually used X6 wheels they had a lower offset & fit great !

30mm rear and 25mm fronts I was running with no issues. As they are the bolt on type they don't add quite as much stress to bearings and wheels boots etc as the extended bolt on type do.

Have you got the arch extensions ? As you need to be careful that you don't exceed the wheel arch or it will fail on the mot , plus if you get stopped by the Police they will make you change back over !

Hi Sid,
Yeah, agreed, I understand that the tyre centre looking down has to be out of view & covered by the arch.
Re previous posting -
Hi Jim, I'm interested in the 30mm pair set, just PM'd you.
regards

Many thanks - Bamberjim.
The spacers arrived this afternoon, and will be on the car tomorrow.
Thanks again.
