Terraclean

Post by Stevejspm » Mon Dec 01, 2014 8:40 pm

Just a quickie....

Had the oil burner 'Terracleaned' a week ago now & just wanted to report how much of an improvement it's made. Far more responsive, quicker, more economical & generally far nicer to drive. If anyone's considering getting it done I'd thouroughly recommend. If anyone has any questions on it then give me a shout (& no I'm not on commission or am connected with them in any way!)

From what I have read it seems to be a franchised thing with agents around the country all charging different amounts. I've read of prices from £84 to £125. I only briefly browsed the subject out of curiosity, so if you are considering having it done I'd recomend you spend some time Googling it first. :)

154,000 miles, it took 3/4 of an hour & cost £118+ VAT (which seems pretty expensive but worth it in my opinion).

Goodness I feel under pressure now  :-[
Is all I know is that they disconnect the fuel supply from the car & connect their box of tricks with a fuel supply & additive, run the engine for 15 minutes @ 2000rpm, stop the engine leave to soak for 15minutes then run again 15 minutes @ 2000rpm, reconnect cars fuel tank & road test.
I don't know the science behind it I'm afraid but they do have a website if you google it :-)

I heard about it ages ago & I suppose it sat logged in the back of the drawer in my brain! It was only when I took the inlet manifold off & an injector out the other week that made me realize how gummed up all my engine internals must be. As a result I looked into it further, read a load of reviews & decided to give it a go. I'm glad I did as it really has made a big difference. Apparently it makes more noticeable differences on Diesel engines than petrol I suppose due to Diesel engines burning 'dirtier'.

Didn't the Wheeler Dealer lot use it once?

And you can now get an official BMW diesel fuel additive for £10 a tankful.  Again, which particular brand of 'snake oil' it might be inside I don't know.  Only need 100ml per tank every 5,000 miles or so, or at least that was the BMW pitch.

I saw ed china saying how wonderful it was on wheeler dealers as well, the snake oil is as closely guarded a secret as the HP sauce recipe!

I suspect Mr China has a vested interest in this product being a success. He did use it in one of the Wheeler Dealer episodes and a quick look at the home page of their UK website suggests he has some involvement.

do a search on Google for pistonheads and terraclean - interesting stuff there if you go all the way through. I see nothing to convince me to to spend the money. all the claimed reviews seem to be subjective and in non repeatable conditions' IT feels better' it seems to have more power even the mrds noticed the difference etc etc - nothing quantifiable

This was on a mercedes forum
"Reading through pages and pages of discussion on various forums about Terraclean there does seem to be some cases of diesel injector failure shortly after the treatment.

This is being put down to the product cleaning everything up and causing high mileage injectors (which were probably on their way out eventually anyway) to suddenly fail once the deposits around them have been removed."

Have a look here too

the "snake oil" based in all internal engine cleaning stuff is called Kerosene (jet engine fuel),it basically acts as a catalyst to carbon and breaks it down......any one here involved in jet engines (I am) will tell you there is no such thing as a dirty jet engine, no carbon at all in the combustion area and very little in the zorst....

I use Wynns dpf cleaner from time to time and not just to clean the dpf as it cleans everything else too (except the plenum chamber egr etc).
