Pirelli PZero tyres

Post by Dr C » Sat Nov 29, 2014 9:14 am

Changed the Dunlop Sport Maxx for Pirelli PZero last week - much improved ride IMO. The wife is over the moon with them which is always a bonus. Hopefully the wear rate is reasonable!

Are they Run Flats?

Some tyres have a Tread Wear indication on the tyre wall and this will give an optimum distance available.  It's worked out on percentage of distance.  So the three figure are a percentage of 7200miles. It's an American test.  So to clarify, if the Tread Wear is 250 then you can expect an optimum distance of 17800 miles.  Clear as mud

Yeah they're BMW approved (with the * on the tyre wall) run flats. They do feel much better than the Dunlops but it's all relative - they're still run flats and still on MSports suspension!

My F15 30d came with Pirelli Scorpion Verde as OEM. nit noisy for first 100 or so miles but now really smooth and quite.

Interesting Bob, I had Dunlop Sport Maxx GT as OEM from new. Maybe Dunlop took the BMW execs to a particularly nice restaurant when my car was being built  :))

I got my F15 on launch night just over a year ago so maybe BMW changed tyre supplier shortly after. Who knows.

3 tyre suppliers, so it depends upon stock levels.
