Cheap tyres????

Post by chelsea » Tue Nov 25, 2014 7:50 pm

I use my x5 mostly to commute 24 miles round trip each day, the journey never really allows me to go any faster than 70mph and its usually around the 40mph mark depending on congestion.

I went on Ebay last night and found some tyres (4 of brand new) for £300 odd quid plus delivery......"kinforest" (haha), they are "v" rated etc and to be honest knowing better on long journeys with cheap tyres..... I don't really know why I'm going to ask this question but here goes!

Is it worth trying some just for the commute and general slugging around town??

Pretty sure things must have moved on by now with budget stuff???

I have brand new ish tyres on both summer and winter wheels at the moment but just thought I would ask the question anyhow  :)

I'm no expert mate but I'd rather spend £300 on branded part worn tyres if I had to.

Tyres are the only part of your vehicle that are in touch with the ground - never compromise on cost or quality!

First off, Im  not anyone to take tyre advice off, but I have also been checking  tyres recently.

KinForrest reviews are split with some people who love them and some who hate them, which doesnt really help.  That said, £300 is really cheap.

As Reush said, I think I'd rather go p/w for a known good tyre.  My local tyre place said he could source a full set of pirrelli ice and snow p/w's for 20's  for £400 with 5-6mm all round.  No rips, plugs or repairs etc.  Didnt order them so never got to check it out.  The point being its a bit more than £300 but I suppose you pays your money etc etc...

Incidently Yokohama have also recently come out with winter tyres for the 235's and bought new are a good bit cheaper than the pirellis (especially x 4).

Just read this back, not sure any of it answers your question exactly... I blame the JD and coke  :)
