Cheap Engine Oil if interested

Post by BlackX5 » Mon Dec 27, 2010 5:56 pm

Guys,

I am due for an oil service soon, and was just looking around for some Oil. I have a 3.0 diesel sport and have spotted this:-

http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/Car-Mainte ... vt/0290716

At £15 odd quid for 4litres surely its a very good price. Anyone else use this oil? im thinking of picking up 2x4 litres tomorrow.

I believe it meets the BMW longlife spec but I am intended to change the oil every 6k miles so hopefully I won't really depend on the long life properties too much.

Nothing to suggest it will be a problem if using it for a d.i.y. change though I couldn't find that specific oil on the carlube site. Your link mentions C3 in the spec and their Latest 5W30 fully synthetic branded C3 claims to meet BMW LL-04 approval. clicky here

I get my oil replaced by National Tyres - if you book online they tend to run discounts and a full oil and filter change cost me £33!! Thats for fully synthetic Castrol Edge. My 3.0 petrol takes 7.5 litres and it does state on the site that it allows for 7 litres and you may have to pay extra for the top up but I never have - the guy did say that it takes a lot of oil last time I went!

No way you can buy 8 litres for that price and no need to get hands dirty.

Im not 100% sure mate but i dont think the Magnatec range are suitable for bmw longlife. I think only the Castrol Edge meets this requirement.
