House prices across UK
House prices across UK
Hi all. Well, Ive just agreed a price for my 4 bed detached house in Wales and am moving onwards to a quiet village location about 15 miles from where I am now. Just thought we could start a thread talking about average prices around various locations in the UK. Will get my particulars up later but guessing it will be interesting to see what our money would buy us in various parts of the UK.
Just had offer and mortgage accepted on my new purchase so rather happy at mo!! except when I look out on to the drive and currently see me non starting X5!! lol [emoji3]

Re: House prices across UK
Quite strong prices in this area, ours is in a little town outside MK (Aston Martin showroom up road), 4 bed detached recently we recently had valued at 410k.
Well done on getting the mortgage they are getting harder to get!

Re: House prices across UK
wowchers!! well I have just sold a:
4 Bed
Large kitchen / diner
2 bathrooms
2 Living Rooms
Large uility kitchen
Off road parking front and rear
All recently modernized for £175,000. I bought it for £140,000 2 years ago.

Re: House prices across UK
We've been looking at possibly moving to Ceredigion (Cardigan part) as my parents in law have a B&B, and we can get a lot more house for our money over there. Our 4-bed detached is valued at around £330k - between Bedford & Cambridge.
My brother had a three bed detached in Twickenham that sold for £850k three years ago and it was nothing special or even in a nicer part of Twickers, but...

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
Re: House prices across UK
School catchments have a lot to do with it in our case. Certain schools locally are outstanding, which adds a premium.
Re: House prices across UK
It's all about location.
A friends 3 bed seni detached cottage no drive or garageis up for 400k.
Where as my brother in laws rented house in the same area but is on outskirts of town on a large plot about an acre is a 4 bed bungalow 3 bathrooms 4 car garage 2 car ports and tennis court approx £1.3m.
nice but out of my league at moment but any detached are 500-750k depending on location but we are about 30 miles north of London on commuter route and prices are going up rapidly

Re: House prices across UK
As an example, my best friend and best man at our wedding recently purchased:
A 4 bed detached house with 12 acres of land, an indoor sand school, outdoor sand school, stables, out buildings / barns etc, with a newly built double garage with loft conversion all for the princely sum of £470,000.
Its incredible the differences across the UK.
Richard I know Cardigan very well, Im in Pembrokeshire. Its a lovely part of the Country. Summers are great!! ( especially for the caravan ). Lovely campsite in St.Davids called Leithyr Meadow.

This is our new place which I am very happy with. Needs a bit of decor( get rid of some of those awful colours especially the red and orange [emoji1] ), new oak flooring in hallway, new carpets here and there etc, but we are really pleased. Its in a lovely quiet village, with a cracking little School at the top of the road.

Re: House prices across UK
I moved to Windsor - kids catchment and all that. We bought a 2 bed bungalow for almost £400k - as you say, all about location.
Doing an extension and loft conversion to it as we speak. I'd like to think about being mortgage free but doing everything I can to give the kids, wifey (may be I'm in that too) to create our dream 'forever' home. Looking to enjoy it now rather than late in life - no idea what life will throw at me in my senior years (going by my father's health - pacemaker, he's blind, aneurysm) I'm try to live life for now.
May be a stupid idea, with a big mortgage but at least my family will be happy in this 'home'... (I hope)!

You can't take it with you mate (obviously sort the family out) life is for living.

Re: House prices across UK
^^^Sounds good ^^^ lets see the pics when its all finished! sounds like it will be a great pad!
And regarding living for now, I completely understand, I lost my Mum to Skin Cancer when I was 20 so totally agree living for now. [emoji106]
And location is the biggest most important part for me now. Its a hard job doing a house up ( Ive just done one ) but it does pay off when you see your profits realised at the end of it!!
