Home LED lights have tripped

Post by Imy » Wed Nov 05, 2014 12:45 pm

First could I start by stating I am a new home owner, I have no DIY capabilities including, as so has become apparant, changing an effing light bulb!

I got some LED dimmer lights with (what I believe to be) a trailing edge 2 gang dimmer switch (6bulbs on one and 4 on the other)

I tried changing one of the bulbs while the lights were on (stupid i know but with the lights off the room would have been dark!) now none of the lights come on... Flicked the switch on the fuse box but the lights still wont come on.

Any ideas before I call an electrician?

Sounds like a popped dimmer unit.  Try changing it for a normal light switch and see if they now work.

TURN THE MAINS OFF BEFORE you do it!

Just get one in...
Don't want you risking yourself after your admission of lack of DIY abilities...
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking bollox.. O:-)

Nice one Richard - builder I had used wired up the trailing edge dimmer incorrectly causing one of the bubls to fuse. My heroics cause the light switch to blow!

My dads electrician come in yesterday and sorted it.

Owning a house is a ball ache.

Try owning a Hotel/B&B there's always something that needs attention eg the fat arse guest that broke a toilet you won't believe what people do or ask.
