There is no protection to the rear wheel arches. Does anybody know of anywhere in the Manchester area that will fit some protective film to protect them from stone chippings ?
Thanks

I believe that's a factory mod for X5s - any dealer should do it for you for free - had mine done last year.

I've found in over 106000 in my 3.0d that if I run the tyres with the recommended pressures they last better than if underinflated on the rear and over inflated on the front.  The rears do run both the centres down quickly if over-inflated, and the inside edges if the car is loaded, and especially if driven heavily loaded on pitching twisting roads where there is an abrasive surface used (Scotland and the Isles)!  Driving hard around roundabouts, especially when turning right, or cornering hard will round off the outside of the fronts quickly - there's  a lot of weight over the front wheels!  In a nutshell, if you enjoy spirited driving, it will cost more in tyre wear...

Hope this helps,

Graeme
