WARNING- to potential e53 purchasers

Post by shadrack » Sun Nov 02, 2014 1:03 am

This is my old x5 in a more watered down state, however there's no wonder the millage is unvarified as i sold it 2 years ago with 119,000 on the clock and full history, it now appears to have done only 80k???

That's a crazy amount of mileage to have gone missing. Someone will end up with it thinking they have a great low mileage example as well. As you say no wonder the mileage is being said to be not verified. Still a nice car shame they can't have it with the correct mileage and still have the full history.

That really is a silly amount and an MOT check will immediately flag it as you say.

A quick call to Trading Standards might be in order.....the dealer details are on the Ad after all.

I wonder if the tamper dot is lit?

i also wondered if the dot is lit and if they are that stupid they think they can get away with it, it seems pretty clear to me the garage know because it says nothing really other than the milage cannot be guarantee'd, it would be fun to get the mot number from him to do a milage/mot check to see if hes clocked it,

Thanks for highlighting this and specifically your car.

I saw the car advertised yesterday and thought it looked familiar.

Not clear here if last keeper on V5 is same person you sold car to. If you can confirm they put the car in hands Of the current seller then I would get as much clear and chronological info as possible and inform trading standards.

Keep us updated if you do.

They lad I sold it to local to me sold it again with 129k to another person around a year ago.  If anyone checks mot history it will show straight up but without the number off the current mot this isnt possible.

Most sensible and clued up folk would surely rather buy a genuine mileage car (preferably with mots and decide history) ,showing north of 100k than a non historied car magically under 90k.

A non historied and mileage inaccurate car arguably with less than one with an verifiable odometer and history.

Many overlook the fact that many cars get clocked more than once in a lifetime too.

Can't see why folk still do this when it's so easy to check history with hpi, old mot tests and dealer visits

Did it have full history when you sold it ?

That's annoying.

Fwiw I would prefer to buy a car significant mileage with history than one with lower odometer reading and missing history.
