What sort of a job is it to put new bumper grills in? there are a few small stone holes in mine and would like to swap them out.

You need to be able to get behind the bumper so you might need to remove the bumper to give you enough room.  Why BMW Nit using metal given the location and likelihood of damage was IMHO a bad decision.
