Hi graham

same to you mate

I think your wheels really set the x5 off (joke)

Bluetooth works fine thanks

TV doesn't and it doesn't auto lock maybe we didn't write those over correctly

the alarm chirps now thanks

I've been trying to get mine working but not as yet a tleast we've proved the scanner is ok it's just the driver setup

I've also tried on my dads vista but can't get that working i'll have another go at his over the next few days as i'm off now till the new year

it must be something simple just a bit of a nightmare

Maybe we could meet up again when you've got time to have another go at it

regards

In Winows 7 there is an option that enables it to run older versions of software designed for XP as an example. Try turning it on if you have not already.

Microsoft instructions here:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... of-Windows

If you are feeling really brave and are IT literate you can also run a 'Virtual XP' build inside Windows 7. A virtual system is very useful and most of the server systems we now install run these what are called 'virtual instances' where we use an overarching OS with other applications or OS versions running inside them instead of having to build a server for each version. More info here for doing it on a PC.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... nload.aspx
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Funny I was thinking today it said when I was doing it it needed to reset to take affect. Cool, pleased it works.
Do a search for Rolf Resler on here and the net. You will need to download Navcoder also.

Did you try out your Aux Heater??

The resler will only do a few tasks and is no where as good as the scanner you have. However the scanner afaik doesn't code VR where as the resler does ;)

Hi Graham

aux heating working perfectly thanks

only the auto lock but that one was the least inportant

Still can't get the scanner in device manager (it's still an unknown device)

I've tried everything

i think it will be a simple adjustment when i do find it (it's one of my new years resolution to get it working before 2020)

I'm waiting for a reply off the seller regarding this matter maybe he can clear it up

have you got dvd to the front screen I've got dvd/monitors in the headrests i was wondering if you can aux out into the front screen

Hi X5sport

tried all you said

i think the problem is:

when i plug the usb lead in it doesn't say add hardware it just makes a noise as if you connect a usb device

If i then go to device manager it's under other devices with a ! in a yellow box next to it

you can then right click and update driver which i do but then says can't find driver even though i've picked the folder to look in

I'm sure it's something simple but can't get my head round it

I've tried different software from another member and still the same

My scanner worked on his computer (vista)

any ideas

Hi

yes this is one thing i havn't tried yet

I'll have to borrow a laptop with xp at least i can then rule out software, scanner, usb lead

i spoke to a different seller on ebay who also has a scanner for sale and he only recommends XP

so fingers crossed it's win 7 thats the problem

When you plug in the usb does the noise beep twice or three times ? I ask as in my limited/average capabilites on the pc (and i hope i'm not teaching you to suck eggs here btw  ) i have had trouble in the past connecting up the resler and such things with having to download vista files (my pc is xp ;) )

I found that when i got three beeps that it would recognize the scanner/item connected but then wouldn't recognize the drivers no matter where i searched etc
and every time i re connected to the same usb port i got three beeps/bongs.
What i'm trying to say (if my ramblings are making any sense here  ) is go into hardware then device manager and remove the device then when you re connect it to the same usb port next time you should only get two beeps/bongs and then the found new hardware wizard flashes up and try again from there.

HTH in some way as it seemed to work for me
