Why on earth would you want to do that?

That is a seriously bad idea as you end up with the batteries in series so 24V.  Exit electrics!

Why you would want to do it us beyond me too, but Mrs Smee took the car out for the day and left the lights on. She knew I had jump leads in the boot so got a kind Samaritan to help her and he promptly cross connected the leads despite telling her he knew how to jump a car - both leads are somewhat melted at both ends but the car seems fine. For now ......

Good thing one was flat then!!  It's always a parallel connection, pos to pos, neg to neg.  That could have been nasty and one can only hope that said Samaritan is also fine.  Worst cases would have been a fire or a boiled/burst battery due to the closed circuits.

Mrs Smee tells me there was smoke (from the leads) which would explain why they're a bit melted ......

And those are the heavy duty leads!
So I didn't quite believe her that the car was ok even though she drove home eighty miles. Just been out in it and the time/date was wiped, which is fine and now reset, but when I was in the configuration settings page I noticed camera alerts was set to on which I don't normally have on. When I set it to off the language on the dash cluster switches to French. So switched it back to on and it went to English, and in fact when I went past a camera it didn't trigger.
So can I have it set to off but not in French. And any idea why it isn't picking up speed cameras?
Everything else seems fine
Smee

Known issue with the non-OEM discs.  Something to do with the way the language files were hacked.  Did the display show a camera?  If it was put in after the disc was made then it won't know about it.  I used a Road Angel which had live updates, and now have a Garmin which has the same.

Ok thanks. Disc issues aside, do you think the battery would benefit from being hooked up to a CTEK conditioner for a few hours ?

Very definitely.  Got to do our E46 tomorrow as it's starting to sound slow due to irregular use and shortish journeys.
