Mine are the fog lights, 2007 e70, just changed the rear outer so checked everything was working!

Just checked again and the inner set are on with the side lights and fog lights x2 below

Inboard pair are as above, fogs.  Others are tail lights, normal brakes and additional brakes in case you have to stand on em!  Lets dozy drivers know you are stopping in a hurry.  On some models they flash apparently.

You sure that isn't the LCI version?  2010 onwards.

REALOEM says filament bulbs all around 12V 21W for the inners.  Tail lights are 12V 16W.  Brake light the same 12V 21W.

Sounds like you have that common issue with the leaky seal on the boot mounted rear lights. They let in water and eventually rust away the insides. The fog lamp fault is usually the 1st idrive warning. If both the fog lamp and rear light bulbs are out it could be that issue. That's what happened to mine. Same age as yours. Later models got foam seals that don't leak. If you've been getting water dripping heavily when opening the boot after heavy rain then that's a typical sign.

Check for water ingress in the lights. Replacements with the new foam seals are available on ebay much cheaper than main dealer. There's a video on youtube where some aussie bloke kindly shows you how to change them. Be worth popping the rear panel anyway to see what's going on with yours. Fairly easy job to do.

hi all
I keep getting a message saying that the fog light bulbs are not working but its loose bulbs because of past owners slamming the tailgate down have worn out the bulb holders

I bought http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-X-5-E-70- ... 1485112410?
Although I think yours was a right hand side - this seller probably does both sides and is a tiny bit cheaper. Fitted and working. Looks like a genuine part to me and idrive happy.
