Good bye X5 - hello Cayenne :)
Good bye X5 - hello Cayenne :)
After an enjoyable 18 months in a 40d M Sport it's finally time to say goodbye once again
I've been in a few E53 Le Mans Editions and then this E70 - great cars must admit. My 40d had a phenomenal spec but is being replaced next week with an even better spec'd Cayenne Diesel S. I may well miss the power of the 40D but one drive of the Cayenne was enough to convert me - the interior of the Cayenne is an amazing place to be....
Bought the X5 primarily for the 7 seats but now that both my kids are grown out of the 2 rear child seats it made sense to let the car go.
Did think about the new X5 and took it for a drive but it's just one ugly **** ! There was one at my dealership with an M performance kit on it and it looked pretty good but just not worth £70k
Will post pics next week when it arrives. Will be happy to answer questions on comparisons

Good luck with your new car. I test drove a Cayenne S a few years back and found the engine very good, but unlike you I didn't like the interior as I found it a little fussy.

Re: Good bye X5 - hello Cayenne :)
I had a good look at the Gen II Cayenne before buying my E70 but passed on advice from my cousin who is a VW dealer. It seems the VW group still has too many niggling problem on their high line vehicles. But that V8 sure sounds good! After they hit the recent used market coming off lease with full service records I might consider it again. But my insurance company is not too keen on the P word (or BMW M for that matter) so then again I might just re-up in 2 years into an F-15 and remap it like my 40d now. Dunno...time will tell.
Reno: Alsace, France = only 30 minutes to Germany der Vaterland!

I'll be watching this thread with interest. I too looked at the F15 & admittedly a better drive & improved refined interior, the mistake was I parked my E70 next to it....... which looks better. I can't see the F15 growing on me either
