Advice needed with regards to e53 ac panels.

Hi there,

I'm new to the forum and have recently purchased an e53 from an auction, however it doesn't have a climate control panel.

Someone has removed it and it's missing, I'm unsure what I need as there are so many different part numbers.

It's a 55 plate

Which version? It's a 55 plated what? 3.0d/3.0i/4.4 or 4.8?

Do you have just front climate control or rear as well, and is Aux Heating installed - they are all different?

Need the actual production month (that is under the bonnet on a label) as there was a change in parts in May 2005.

You might need to get the full 'build spec' to establish what the car was built with in order to get the correct control panel, and they aren't cheap either! Several hundred £££!!!

Hi,

It's a 55 plate 3.0i, front only air con.

I'm unsure of build date or aux heating. It's being delivered on Monday so will get back to you with that.

Are the units interchangeable? Or will one panel not work in one, but will in another.

I spoke to my local dealer today and he said its part number b64116972163

I can't find any used ones on eBay, can I fit anything other than the one above?

When I look on the parts database this replaced a previous version, can I fit the older version? Legates different?

Take the 'B' off the front and you will get this part highlighted in Red

Not knowing the differences between them I can't say what is interchangeable but the suspicion has to be not. Found one on Ebay in the US and seller won't shop to UK. $584 each.

These panels are not symmetrical, so one from the US won't look like a UK version-some buttons are mirrored, although it should still work. Check the plugs to the climate panel - make sure your proposed panel has the correct number of matching sockets. Reason is that the most sophisticated version of auxiliary heating set up has a plug to the climate panel, that lesser verions don't have
