Buy a Skoda - same car, less money...... >:D

535dboy is probably your best bet.  I would imaging you should be looking for similar option to a 3-er or 5-er?

Just had an Audi A4 Avante 2.0d on test for 3 days , they seem to have come on a bit as my brother in law has an A4 that drives like a brick .
Roomy , Quick , no road tax , great boot , 40 + mpg  , plenty of gadgets but & a big but no driver appeal , corners wobbly & very lumpy ride had 18" on but feel every bump !
Mother in law has a Q5 again nice car but feels wooden .
Only advise get them to try every car in Audi range ,  then try a 3 series ! We tried A3 & A4 before wife who was a big Honda fan tried the X1 which we bought !
After saying all that mate has a S3 which he swears buy but he swears a lot after fuelling it twice a week !

Do not get anything other than a turbo because the torque steer is horrendus
Currently :

2012 Porsche Boxster S (981)
2008 Lotus Exige S (a bit modified!)
2015 Nissan Leaf twin turbo with Nitros

Previously :
2008 BMW X5 3.0sd MSport
2005 BMW 535d MSport

Well the guy bought one. Beautiful car, although the design is dated.

Audi has sacked the design team, no new designs for a while.
